On Apr. 28th, to start the Center for Exceptional Children’s Charity Year in 2021, the press conference for the launching ceremony was hosted by the Putian Municipal People’s Government and the China Charities Aid Foundation for Children, supported by the Fujian Disabled Persons’ Federation, the Chinese Association of Mental Disabilities and Relatives and Friends, and the Management Committee of the Meizhou Bay North Coast Economic Development Zone, co-organized by CEC in CEC.
Putian City People’s Government Mayor Mr. Li Jianhui, Chairman Mr. Wang Lin of the China Charities Aid Foundation for Children, Mrs. Wen Hong, Chairwoman of the Chinese Association of Mental Disabilities and Relatives and Friends, Mr. Lin Feng, Vice Chairman of the Fujian Disabled Persons’ Federation, as well as relevant local government departments, domestic and foreign experts, over 120 representatives of parents, teachers and news media reporters attended the launching ceremony and press conference.
The important achievement of this press conference is the announcement of the creation of the “CEC Special Fund for Autism”, the fund raised will be used for the “CEC Student Aid Plan”, the “Discover Wisdom Star Funding Program” and the “Childcare Screening Training and Well-known Expert Free Consultation Projects”, which are newly launched during the event with the purpose of demonstrating and nurturing the potential and talents of people with autism, establishing a positive and progressive concept of education, promoting harmonious family development, advocating a positive and objective understanding of the group living with autism, and promoting social integration; and also helping more teachers understand autism scientifically and acquiring the basic skills for early identification of autism, and winning precious opportunities for early detection and intervention; at the same time, by organizing a team of well-known domestic experts to carry out autism free clinics in Putian, to provide accurate diagnosis and family intervention suggestions.
CEC hope by encouraging and advocating social disability organizations, companies and people to pay attention to, support, and participate in autism intervention, education, vocational education, and supportive employment, we can jointly promote the healthy development of education for children living with autism, guide the public to set up scientific understanding of autism, and strive to create a tolerant and non-discriminatory social environment so that they can obtain a better quality intervention and education environment.
During the event, a special art exhibition was held. Students and teachers from CEC had brought their performances which generated plenty of touching moments for all the audience.
